Hello Again!

Alright so ever since my photography class ended I have stopped posting. I didn't mean for that to happen but today I decided to just add some random photos that I took and edited while I was up at Lake Michigan.
Enjoy!

Week 9 Assignment: Scavenger Hunt!

Being one of our last weeks in this wonderful class, this assignment was huge! We had an assignment of 10 photos. This assignment was in scavenger hunt form, which means we are just given a topic and we have to find pictures to fit it.

Here is what I got!

Candy!
For this picture, we had to take a picture of candy in or out of its package. I thought it would be cute if I used my cousin as a model because she loves that candy! I really like how it turned out!

Delicate

This part called for us to find something delicate to photograph. I decided to do this little bowl of flowers because they are both delicate and beautiful!

Nose, Ear, or Eye
I took this photo a little while ago and I thought it would work out great for this assignment. I have always liked how the colors go together. All in all, this is one of my favorite photos from this set.

Something Old
When I saw this category, I knew right away what to photograph. I have a small collection of really old cameras. I really love my cameras and I was so excited to photograph them! I think the photo turned out great and I like the concept of photographing things that take photographs.

 Pyramid
My photography teacher, Mrs.Ihde, always says that she doesn't really like photographs of photographs. I thought maybe this could be an exception though! I recently got a new Polaroid camera and I have been using it a lot. I love the look of the photographs it takes and I thought it would look super cute for this picture. I think it turned out really great actually!

Reflection From a Unique Place

I thought and thought about what I wanted to do for this photo. My ideas went from sunglasses to CDs to mirrors! But a new idea that I really liked struck me. BUBBLES! So I proceeded outdoors to blow some bubbles and see what I could get. I absolutely adore the results! Even though the reflection of me is a bit vague, the sky in the bubble turned into vivid colors. I really like how these turned out and I'm thinking about doing some more bubble photography soon.

Shoes
I honestly had no idea how I could create a unique shoe photo. But then I remembered that my little sister and I had matching shoes and I got a idea. I really like how this shows how worn out my shoes are and how much bigger mine are than hers. This photo is good at telling the story of one of the things that comes with us everywhere. It also shows the bond between my sister and I. In the end, I really like how this one turned out!

Square
Though it may seem odd, I found it so hard to find a square to photograph. Since I couldn't find anything inside, I decided to go on a little walk outside. I finally came across this birdhouse that has been sitting here for a long while. It's not exactly a square, but it is a cube which counts! I decided to mess around with the colors to make this photo a little more cold and nature-y. I think it turned out alright, but it's not my favorite I've taken!

Strong

I gave this category a lot of thought. I decided instead of doing something a lot of people would automatically thing of strong, I would try something a bit different! After some more thought, I decided to do fire. Fire is stronger than most things. It has the ability to give life and destroy life. Not to mention the strong smell of smoke. Even though it took like 17 matches, I really like how these turned out and the overall concept!

Toy
Unlike many of the others, I knew right away what to do for this one. This is a photograph of my stuffed elephant Ellie. I got Ellie at my brother's 1st birthday party. It feels like I've had her for so long. Her neck that was once full of stuffing, is now limp from my holding her in my armpit for many many years. This stuffed animal contains so many memories, from the stitches on her ear to the blue spray paint on her butt. I really like how this photo turned out and I'm happy that I got to photograph one young childhood memories.

Scary! (Extra Credit)
This assignment offered two additional categories for extra credit. I decided to do one of them just for fun. So this is a collage that I made a while ago. I got inspiration to make this while looking through some of my favorite photographer's Instagrams. I think it's really unique and different. It can kinda tell a different story for everyone who looks at it. All in all, this was just kinda just a fun project that I knew would fit into this assignment!

That actually wraps it up for this class! I have to say, this is one of the best classes I have ever taken and I am so grateful for this opportunity. I had so much fun sharing my work with others and exploring different types of photography. Thank you Mrs. Ihde for making this such an awesome experience! You are such a great teacher! And thank you to all of my friends and family that have looked into this blog and photography. Even though I have finished the school aspect of this blog. I plan to keep it open and to keep posting whenever I feel like sharing my work! So please check in everyone once and a while if your interested. Again, thanks everyone!
And until next time,
BYE!!

Week 8 Assignment: Feet in Nature (Part 2)

The second part of our weekly assignment was to take a picture of our feet out in nature. This was meant to teach us that in nature, we can take pictures of anything without permission. However, when you are out in town, it is polite to ask before you take a picture of a stranger.

Here's my pics:

I found it hard to find anything worth taking a picture of around my feet since it is winter. So I chose to go simple with my photos, then mess with the colors, levels, and curves while editing. All in all, I really like how they turned out.

That concludes this week!
Bye!

Week 8 Assignment: Selfie! (Part 1)

This weeks assignment reminded me just how fun and unique my photojournalism class is. For the first part of this week's assignment we got to follow the popular trend of taking a selfie!

Here's the little selfie I took of myself this week:

As you can see, I decided to go pretty simple on this assignment. I threw on my jacket and stepped outside to find a good background for my selfie. I thought that the simple red siding was a good fit. I also decided to not use a filter or edit this very much. In the end, I think it turned out pretty well.

Week 7 Assignment: Elements of Art

For my week 7 assignment, I had to find something to photograph that contained one or more of the elements of art.

Here's what I got:

This photograph works for this weeks assignment because it has the element of line and pattern. The sky was absolutely beautiful and unique that day, so I knew that it would be the perfect shot for this week!

That's all for this week!
Bye!

Week 6 Assignment: Signs of the Season (Part 2)

We also had another assignment this week called Signs of the Season. For this assignment, we had to capture something that reminds us of the season, which is currently winter. The last few days have been very gloomy and foggy, so they provided me with a cool idea for my photo.

I really like how my photo turned out because it has a cold feeling to it which is perfect for this assignment. The fog on the road and in the trees adds a nice touch. All in all, I really like how my projects for this week turned out!

Week 6 Assignment: Vintage (Part 1)

When I heard that our next assignment was to use filters and overlays to make a picture look vintage, I already had a detailed vision of what I wanted to do for my photos. Instead of just making a photo look vintage, why not go back in time myself?
Living in the situation I do now, I have access to a large variety of vintage clothing, vehicles, jewelry, objects, furniture, and overall style. So I decided I would put this to use and throw myself back to the 1950s.

Here is how that turned out:

Although it took a long while to edit and hours for hair and makeup, it was all worth it. I really like how these photos turned out. I actually took them when it was getting a bit dark outside which lowers the quality of the photo but I feel like it added to the old fashioned feel. Using black and white and sepia filters also lightens up the photo. All in all, I feel as though this assignment was a total success!
